Ben Eckersley

Ben is a busy musician around Sheffield and is regularly seen performing in many genres of music - as a classical musician in string quartets and orchestras, and also as a member of various bands including indie rock, experimental and folk music styles, and occasionally playing for musicals. He is highly able and experienced, and dedicates much of his time to teaching as well.

Ben has been teaching for over a decade, including 5 years in schools with Sheffield Music Service. He is currently employed by Sheffield Music School offering advanced musical tuition. He is happy teaching all ages and abilities, from the toddlers that he works with at a parent and child music group to undergraduate seminars at University.

Ben believes that learning music should be fun and enjoyable and endeavours to make all lessons as lively as possible. He regularly enters pupils for ABRSM exams (where they usually do very well) but is also happy to teach people who just want to learn for the fun of it. His lessons are structured and goal oriented, and he specialises in developing a person's whole musicality - not restricted to technical ability on an instrument.
