I am an experienced teacher and felt artist. I sell my own work through shops and galleries, teach feltmaking to schools and community groups as well as from my own studio in the Peak District.
My specialism is felt landscapes created from naturally-dyed, local wool.
I love to see students of all ages expressing themselves through feltmaking, learning new skills and leaving with an artwork to be proud of.
Workshops include:
Wall-hangings (abstract or landscape)
Vessels

Hanging hearts/birds
Slippers
Jewellery
I am fully insured, have an enhanced CRB and am a member of the International Feltmakers' Association.

Felt Bunting
Learn the basics of felt-making in a fun and friendly half-day workshop. Everyone will make a string of no-sew bunting from a wide choice of colours.
We will make patterned pieces of felt, then after a tea/coffee break, cut and string up the flags to create beautiful sections of striking bunting. If it's a hen crafty party, the bunting could be used to decorate the wedding venue.
The price includes materials and refreshments.
Felt Vessels
Take your feltmaking to another level and go 3D. Make a decorative art vessel or beautiful and practical bowl - the choice is yours.
A large range of wool and silk fibre will be available.
Feltscapes
Learn how to 'paint with fibres' in a two-part workshop.
Session 1: Experience a guided walk around the grounds of The Chestnut Centre and make a pastel sketch and the landscape. Then go inside and lay-out wool & silk fibres to create your landscape. Break for lunch at the cafe, the wet-felt your picture in the afternoon.
Session 2: Learn how to embellish your landscape to best effect with needle-felting, stitches and beads.
Suitable for artistic beginners and intermediates.
The fee includes refreshments and materials.
Experience
Community Artist
I worked with Edale Primary School children to create a felt cushion front from British wools. The finished cushion is to be presented to an olympic competitor as part of the Wool Sack Project.
Community Artist
I led a four week felting club for High Peak Community Arts, where members of the group made felt vessels and other seamless forms such as, hats, bags, gloves, sketchbook covers & more ...
Community Artist
I worked for High Peak Community Arts on 'Project Earth' in conjunction with the mental health team.
I taught the group a range of feltmaking skills over the course of several weeks, then they used their new found knowledge to create a four-panel wall-hanging.
The wall-hanging, 'Elements of the Peak' is currently on display at Buxton Art Gallery & Museum.
Community Artist
Since January 2011 I have been felt-making with key stage 2 pupils at Bamford Primary School as part of a Craft Council initiative.
I have worked with Y3/4 pupils making felt bunting & Y5/6 pupils to produce a large wall-hanging of Ladybower reservoir.
Community Artist
I was employed by the National Trust to work on the 'Farm to Felt' project. This involved college students and school pupils visiting a National Trust farm to learn all about sheep farming, sketching the landscape, then using their sketches as inspiration for felt landscape pictures.
Tutor
I have been teaching the art of feltmaking to students of all ages at New Mills Original since the gallery opened. Workshops have included no-sew felt bunting, feltscapes, felt vessels, felt snakes & silk paper making.
