I'm a voice teacher with a busy private studio in New York City. I have more than 15 years of experience teaching singing technique to professionals and amateurs who perform everything from opera to Persian classical music to death metal. I earned my BA in Music at Bennington College, MM degrees in both Voice and Clarinet Performance at Peabody Conservatory, and a DMus in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at McGill University.

Voice Studio Policies

$90 for a one-hour lesson, paid at each lesson by cash or check. When paying cash, please pay in exact change. No lessons are given on credit and no postdated checks are accepted. Any returned checks must be reimbursed with added fees. Please read my cancellation policy carefully to avoid paying for missed lessons.

Studio Location
Lessons take place at my apartment, located at 75 West End Avenue, Apt. R4B. When you arrive, please check in with the concierge and he will ring me to let me know you’re here. Students are ordinarily assigned a regular weekly lesson time; however, I can often be more flexible to accomodate performance and work schedules. When scheduling irregular individual lesson times, I will provide written and/or emailed confirmation of these times. If you are late, you should still expect the lesson to end one hour (or 45 minutes) from the time it was originally scheduled to begin. If I am running late, I will give you your full lesson time.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that permit free movement, stable alignment, and full breathing. Bring either a recording device or a cassette tape to record your lesson. Bring two copies of sheet music for any repertoire you would like to prepare. You are welcome to bring an accompanist to your lesson.

Focus & Concentration
Progress in singing technique relies on the ability to detect sounds and sensations in your voice and body that can be quite subtle. Therefore, I rarely take a phone call while I am teaching and I request that you also refrain from answering your mobile phone during your lesson time unless it is absolutely urgent.

You must provide 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson so that I can offer your time to another student. Inform me as early as possible if you will have to miss a lesson by calling either my home or mobile phone number. Leave a voice mail message if you are unable to reach me. If a lesson is missed without a full 24 hours’ notice, you must pay for that lesson before receiving any other lessons.
