Take advantage of my years of experience of writing for photography magazines on all manner of subjects, with my consultancy programme to help photographers with all levels of experience.
Over the years I’ve watched photography workshops become successfully established by a wide range of photographers and often wondered if I should do the same. However, I now feel that this area is over-saturated and often very expensive for the photographer. Therefore, I have put together a cheaper, alternative solution, which I hope will appeal to those not wanting to invest in the expense of a photography workshop or holiday, but still want all the knowledge and advice that can be gained from attending one.

Photography Workshop
Available to both new photographers and students currently doing the Project Tuition Course, these one day workshops offer a practical way to learn the basics of photography in a stunning location. The workshops are based on the first five lessons of the online course and cover the most important aspects of photography. This means that if the online Project Course is not for you, then you can still benefit from the tuition offered, on a more traditional, field-based workshop.
Each workshop caters for the complete beginner, to the more advanced user too, or just anyone wanting to develop their understanding and key skills in using a digital or film camera. Throughout the day we will cover exposure, composition, depth of field, light and filters, as well as other aspects of creative photography that is appropriate to the location and shot in hand.
I have carefully chosen locations that I know intimately and that offer a wide range of shooting techniques that fully explore the conditions and situations that will crop up when you are in the landscape, both rural and urban, on your own.
To keep the tuition to a high level, each workshop is limited to just three places and this allows me to give full guidance and individual attention to each participant however they need it, throughout the days shoot. If you are new to photography and struggling to understand how your camera works or are afraid to take it off the auto setting, then these workshops are ideal for you. They will show you how to take the next step and start getting creative with your camera, instead of letting the technical aspects hold you back.
Each one-day course will cover all the important skills and techniques that are offered in the online Project Tuition Course. Things you will learn include:
Setting up your camera
Exposure
Understanding histograms
White balance
Apertures and shutter speeds
ISO settings
Focusing techniques
Creative compositions
Taking pictures with impact
Choosing the right filter
Advanced techniques for the experienced photographer
Each workshop begins at 10am and ends at 4pm, unless otherwise stated, with a stop for lunch in between. We will visit 2 or 3 locations, where you will have the opportunity to photograph some stunning subjects and locations and benefit from friendly and helpful tuition. At the end of the workshop you will be given the first five articles of the Project Tuition Course in PDF form, which are your notes and technique guide to refer to from the days workshop.
The cost of each workshop is £95
