Dan Kreiger - Pianist/Educator/Composer

Dan Kreiger has been involved in music his entire life. Primarily a pianist, Kreiger is also multi-instrumental, having studied guitar and trumpet as well.

Kreiger began studying classical piano at five years of age. At eleven, he began studying jazz as well. Playing gigs at twelve, and teaching at fifteen, Kreiger began his career as a musician early. During High School, he attended the preparatory division at the Manhattan School of Music, in addition to being involved in various professional jazz and rock ensembles. During this time, he also studied at various summer programs including the Hartwick Institute and the Litchfield Jazz Festival.

After graduating high school, Kreiger decided to attend New York University, majoring in music performance. He has developed his skills as a classical pianist under the instruction of Dr. Deirdre O'Donohue. He performs and records his classical repertoire regularly (see dankreiger.com). He has also studied jazz with the renowned Don Friedman.

In addition to being a student, Kreiger has been simultaneously active as a performing keyboardist and songwriter for various professional bands, including Mook (mookisgood.com) and Quintus (quintusmusic.com). With these bands, Kreiger has performed everywhere from Montreal to Los Angeles. Given the versatility of his musical interests, Kreiger has performed at a wide-variety of musical venues. These venues range from classical concert halls such as Steinway Hall, to large rock-oriented venues such as the Nokia Theatre in Manhattan.

Kreiger (twenty-six years old) has been teaching piano for the past eleven years. At fifteen, after having received considerable local praise and recognition, he was offered a teaching position at the Cider Mill School in Wilton, Connecticut. Soon after, he began offering private instruction. Having extensive knowledge of all genres of music (namely classical, jazz, and rock), Kreiger can cater his teaching-style to a student's musical interests, while also providing valuable instruction in music theory and piano performance technique. Kreiger has taught people of all ages and abilities, and currently teaches in both New York City and Fairfield County. References are available on request.
