I was born in London and have had a varied career, spending a lot of my earlier working life at the GLC/ILEA doing admin and computing. Since I've had my 2 children, who are at university now, I've helped at schools with reading and other duties as needed. As I enjoy helping people to learn, I decided to do a tutor's diploma in Word Processing and after I did the TESOL course. I've taught a number of foreign students and also teach basic Spanish. I also worked part-time for seven years in a 'Before and After School Club' with children aged between 5 and 8 years, which was very rewarding, and occasionally in a creche looking after babies and younger children.

Throughout my life I've come in contact with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds, either as friends or at work, and I find it very interesting exchanging information about our different ways of life, which is why I particularly enjoy teaching English to foreign students from different countries.

Experience

English Tutor

After passing my TESOL course I started teaching English privately to au pairs and other students who have relocated due to differing circumstances. This has enabled me to build up some useful experience and a variety of materials for their different levels. Also from teaching different nationalities I've been able to acquire a good knowledge of other cultures and problems encountered when learning another language. As I learn Spanish I'm also aware of the difficulties that a student can have and the constant challenges and motivation needed to continue. When teaching I always try to be flexible and keep my lessons as interesting and stimulating as possible to meet the needs of the individual. As I work part time with young children I also have a unique opportunity to be involved in some of their learning, which is also very rewarding.

I started teaching English privately and also basic Spanish, which I've been learning for approximately 8 years.
