I am an author, journalist, editorial consultant and creative writing tutor; I also teach people to play the piano.

I currently teach people who want to learn how to write creatively on a one-to-one basis and I may extend this to writing groups and workshops at some later stage. I specialise in non-fiction (articles, books), fiction (short stories, novels), life writing and scriptwriting.

How am I qualified to do this on a professional basis? I spent many years as a news journalist and feature writer, page editor and magazine editor before freelancing for national publications; I have an MA in Scriptwriting from the University of Salford (my last script was showcased in London and recorded for radio in the UK and USA and was shortlisted for both the BBC Women's Writers and Paines Plough workshops); I tutor scriptwriting for Writer's News Home Study Division; I have had three non-fiction books published, one of which won two book awards from the BMA and dozens of articles; I have workshopped for schools in all writing genres, worked for 10 years for an international correspondence writing school and been guest tutor at writing circles; and I tutor in fiction, non-fiction and lifewriting for the Open College of the Arts and mentor a level 3 pilot scheme.

My editorial consultancy, Keyword Editorial Services, specialises in manuscript appraisals and helping writers develop their projects to a marketable standard.
