After having taught violin and piano in South East London since 2002, I have recently moved to the Colchester area and now have spaces for new pupils. I teach pupils of all abilities, from complete beginners to music college level, both children and adults. I am happy to travel to a student’s house as well as to teach from home.

Past students have been awarded scholarships to top secondary schools and have gone on to study music and become professionals themselves. Many have obtained distinctions at grade 8 and have achieved 100% in their GCSE and A level practical exams.

As a pianist as well as a violinist I can accompany violin students at the piano in any repertoire. I am a chamber music coach for the prestigious Pro Corda courses at Leiston Abbey and I have participated in education projects with the Roman River Festival and London Philharmonic Orchestra. I hold a current DBS certificate.

I am also a performing musician, having been the co-leader of the West End production of Phantom of the Opera and a member of the orchestra for the last 6 years. I have recorded many soundtracks for film and TV, including The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dr Who, Miss Marple, Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife and Poldark. I have been invited as guest leader by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Ulster Orchestra and other orchestras both in the UK and in Europe. I have also played with the orchestras of the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, London Symphony, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic, BBC Symphony and Roman River Festival.

This year I have written a book of exercises for the violin which I plan to publish shortly. It covers all aspects of violin playing and can be used by both complete beginners and professionals.

I attended the Royal College of Music between 1991-95, winning a scholarship to study violin and piano as a joint first study.

Aimed at: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.
