Gavin Barras

Gavin graduated from Manchester University with a BMus. He is a professional musician who has played with many different groups playing styles ranging from jazz, rock, funk, pop, blues and classical. Gavin has recorded on many records and has toured Europe and Asia with various groups.

Gavin has over ten years of teaching experience from absolute beginners to advanced University level. He has taught for many years at The Music Place in Altrincham, conducted workshops for the Live Music Now organisation and is associate lecturer in bass guitar at Manchester Metroplitan University.

The lessons are totally tailored to the needs and interests of the individual. Whilst learning the instrument we also cover the rudiments of music theory in order to get a deeper understanding of how music works. That is then applied to learning songs etc to put everything into context. Most importantly lessons with Gavin are fun!
