Harriet P. Jenkins is a professional Singing Teacher and Classical performer based in Belfast and Newtownards, Co.Down. She currently teaches privately alongside work at the Ulster College of Music (Belfast) and at Priory Integrated College (Holywood). She also maintains an active performance life, including work with chamber choirs, orchestras and solo engagements which include weddings and corporate functions. She is a former member of New Lyric Operatic Company.

Harriet studied at the University of Cambridge between 2003 and 2006 (attaining a MA degree), and has also attained a Masters degree in Musicology from University College Dublin. She is a classically trained Mezzo-Soprano, training in both Northern Ireland & England.

Following much performance work, including concert work, solo recital work, touring chamber choir work along with television and radio recordings, she began formally teaching singing in 2006.

It may be helpful to note that Harriet provides Consultation Lessons, at the usual rate, which allow students to experience the Lesson environment, and discuss their expectations. These lessons also allow Harriet to assess their current developmental stage.

Singing Lessons with an experienced teacher provide a solid musical grounding, whilst promoting confidence & enjoyment of music.

Harriet strongly believes in promoting a student-tailored approach, which allows students to explore varied genres of music including Classical, Musical Theatre, Folk & Pop. She currently works with all ages, from 7 to adult, and with singers of varying levels of experience and confidence.

Students are encouraged to experience performance opportunities including recitals & festivals. Harriet also prepares students for Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) & London College of Music (LCM) Exams, where the student is interested. The higher grades in both boards confer UCAS points, which is often of interest to school-age students.

Examinations need not be the focus of singing lessons, singing for pleasure is equally rewarding & enjoyable.

Harriet also teaches Beginner's Piano (Grades 1-3) at the same rate.
