Having gained a degree in costume making at Wimbledon School of Art in
London, Helen Mackenzie went on to make many costumes for TV, theatre and film. After 10 years employment at 'Angels The Costumiers' in Camden, Helen left to start a family! Later on she worked in the costume department of 'Eastenders' as well as putting together lots of private commissions from her studio at home. She has also been employed as a seamstress in the costume workrooms of various films, including James Bond, Harry Potter, and Nanny McPhee.
Helen Mackenzie started Sew School in 2009. She wanted a job that involved her sewing skills but allowed her to spend more time with her children and Sew School was the perfect solution. Helen loves teaching! Inspiring people to sew and be creative is hugely rewarding. Sewing is now a rare skill which is not only lots of fun, but also extremely useful. Helen's small and friendly classes aim to gently guide you into the wonderful world of sewing.

Helen Mackenzie also runs a lunchtime sewing club
at her children's school, Foulds in High Barnet as well
as teaching sewing machine skills to a group of mental health students at Barnet College.

She has been CRB checked and also has liability
insurance.

you have to worry about is the sewing!!

" I would highly recommend your Sew Club. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was great to put the skills I had learnt
previously with you into practice knowing you were there to help - it also means you do actually sit down and do something productive with your skills instead of forgetting them. I also thought it was a lovely, sociable way to enjoy a hobby and be creative - always very rewarding.

THE SMALL PRINT

* All courses and group classes must be paid in advance.
* Due to the limited spaces, all payments are non refundable, and are valid only for the dates you
have booked. Please check your diary carefully before booking.
* That said, if I manage to fill your place, you would be offered an alternative date or a credit for the same amount of money.
* Alternatively, I would be happy for you to send a friend in your place, just let me know their name.
* Very Occasionally, I may have to cancel or postpone a class due to unavoidable circumstances or if a class is under-subscribed. I will always try to give as much notice as possible in this event and you will be offered an alternative date, or a credit for the same amount of money (valid for 1 year) or a full refund. I
cannot be responsible for any other costs or expenses that you may incur.
* If you are unable to attend the first Sew Basic class you will have to attend and pay for a catch up session before the second class, to avoid
holding up the others. This should take about 1.5 hours and will cost you an extra £20. The first class is essential as you learn how to work my machines and there is no time to catch up during the next class.
* If you are unable to attend a private lesson, as long as I have 24 hours notice, I would be prepared to rearrange the date. If you cancel all together I will require 50% of the agreed fee.
