I involved in a number of efforts, and teach in a variety of topics but this profile asks me to choose a focus. So, I offer my music services...

I am a music expert of eclectic taste. As a professional DJ for nearly ten years, I have focused on the intersection of traditional world music styles with modern and electronic production. I have consulted and created music for art events, benefits, clubs, fashion shows, galleries, photographers, and of course wild, wild parties. This has lead me to interests a vast variety of genres, with certain specialties. These are:

1. Reggae and Jamaican diaspora musics like Dancehall and Jungle...
2. House, Techno and Electro, the three great American electronic styles...
3. Indian classical music and it's modern street styles...
4. Moroccan, Arabic and Persian music and it's modern street styles...
5. Hip Hop of many faces, the politics to the parties to the peculiar...
6. Gamelan, Taiko, Koto, Tuvan and other great Asian musics...
7. African music, the mbira, djembe and kora through modern Afrobeat...
8. I.D.M., Ambient, and the genre-blending modern styles like Dubstep...
9. Those musics that are nearly impossible to find or explain. I got 'em.

I have experience with other styles like rock, pop, funk, etc... but my specialties are listed above.

At the end of the day I care more about music than money. My typical way of doing things is that if the work is for a good cause (a benefit event, charity work, youth education) I don't charge, or I just cover my expenses. However I've done work for more commercial environments like fashion shows, entertainment work, art events or adult instruction, in which case I assess the situation independently. As a general guide, the larger the audience for the work, the more money the project is making, the sooner the deadline, the more money I ask for. Fairly standard consultant/contractor policy. As a general rule I charge $100/hour for deejaying and $20/hour for doing consulting, research or instruction. But if you think you're special for some reason, or your project needs me, don't be afraid to ask. I'm not a hardass, and I don't charge for estimates.
