Jennifer Essex
Jennifer was a member of Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers, Canada’s first modern dance company, for five years. During her time with WCD she delivered workshops within the public school system which consisted of teaching a highly physical dance class and creating, in collaboration with the students, a new dance work, which they performed in a professional theatre. Jennifer has also had the pleasure of working with a range of students and professionals in Mexico, Cuba, and Germany. She was the dance captain for the world tour of Ben Hur Live, choreographed by Liam Steele (founding member of the acclaimed physical theatre company DV8), where she taught professional class to an international cast of over 50 dancers.
Last season, Jennifer taught Creative Movement, Hip Hop and Jazz/Modern at Richmond Dance in London.

She is also teaching at the Manning School for girls.
She has done movement direction for film and theatre including work for Hermes.

This class is slightly more structured, using more advanced concepts. In this level we introduce rhythm awareness, posture and physical development exercises through creativity, self expression and individual interpretation of children.

Children can develop the skills they have learnt from ballet pots, taking them to the next level of movement with stories and ballet-based activities that appeal to both girls and boys alike. The creative play in each story enhances the development of fine and gross motor skills as they balance, skip and leap, coordinate, isolate and move to the music.

Gently introduces children to dance and ballet using the natural actions of the body such as running, walking, jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping and encourages them to want to move up to the second class soon as they turn 3 years old
