Joe has been teaching at South End Music School since 2010 and also manages the retail store and guitar repair facility at our sister company, Martin Phelps Music. Joe has been a keen guitarist since beginning at the age of 9, and has totally immersed himself in the music industry since graduating from University in 2004.

Alongside his career as a highly trained guitar builder and repairer, Joe also realised a long held ambition for teaching guitar in 2010.
Joe has amassed an enviable reputation for his relaxed and informative teaching approach on electric, acoustic and bass guitar, and latterly, the Banjo, all of which encompass a wide knowledge base ranging from folk, country and blues to contemporary styles.

Joe caters for all age groups and abilities from 6 years upwards, and offers the opportunity for students to study the from the Trinity or RockSchool examination syllabus should they choose to pursue this as part of their lesson programme.

Whether acoustic, electric or bass, guitar is the most in-demand instrument we teach. With a highly skilled and Joe works with a dedicated team of eight teachers who offer tuition seven days a week in many styles including classical, rock, pop, blues, metal, country and folk. In addition, we teach ukulele and banjo. Joe says that at South End Music School a guitar teacher is more than just an instructor showing you how to play the right notes. Our tutors can enrich and enliven your musical learning and help you to reach goals which seemed unattainable before.
