Iran is the third-largest producer of handicrafts in the world after India and China. Iranian handicrafts include 155 disciplines, 18 groups, and 140 subsets, but carpet, which is one of the oldest Iranian arts, is not a subset of the Iranian Handicrafts Organization. Iran is also the first country in the world in terms of registration of villages and cities in the world. According to research, more than one million people work in the field of handicrafts, many of whom work in remote villages and cities.
Given that Iran has a 5,000-year-old civilization and rich culture and tradition, it is impossible not to see a great variety of arts and crafts. In general, in Iran, we see handicrafts in all climatic and geographical areas.
Among these arts, we can mention pottery, needlework, kilim weaving, mat weaving, kapobafi, masonry, mosaic, Baluchi embroidery, and quilt weaving.
In this article, we want to introduce you to the most famous Iranian handicrafts that are known in the world, so that you can become more familiar and proud of the art of the people of this region and their place in the world.
