Jonathan Halliwell

Qualifications

I am graduate of the University of Cambridge with a BA (Hons.) in the upper second class.

I am a qualified teacher of Classical Subjects with a PGCE from the University of Buckingham.

I have a PhD in Classics from the University of Bimringham,specialising in ancient Greek literature (mainly Homer and Pindar).

Teaching experience

I taught for six years at a highly academic preparatory school, Milbourne Lodge, where I prepared pupils for Scholarship and Common Entrance Examinations in Latin and Greek to top independent schools, including Eton, St Paul's, Winchester and King's College School, Wimbledon.

I am currently teaching at Tonbridge School for one term as cover for a sabbatical leave.I have a working knowledge of the Cambridge Latin Course and John Taylor's course books for learning Latin and Greek. I am teaching two A2 set texts (Tacitus and Virgil) and GCSE verse literature. In addition, I am teaching A.S. Classical Civilisation (AQA) and A.S. Greek (OCR).
