Jon Bennett
Are you a beginner, or in need of improvement lessons? I've been teaching acoustic guitar for 20 years. mostly folk and blues, finger picking and strumming. I'm also a perfoming musician and singer with Moonrakers. I can help you develop your playing and performing skills, either formally(through the RGT system of grades) or at your own pace. I usually follow up the lesson with a free video reminder of what we did. All lessons are about an hour - £20. I'm in Headington, Oxford, and free weekdays and most weekends.

Moonrakers residential folk weekend
Halsway Manor is a rather grand old Somerset farm house in the heart of the Quantock Hills. It was set up as a charity and a folk centre in 1965 and puts on a year round programme of courses, events and activities to get people involved in folk dance, music, song, storytelling and arts and crafts. It has a large folk library in a 16th century panelled
room. The food and accommodation are great, it has a bar, lots of parking, lovely gardens and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The Weekend....
• A multi-instrumental ‘slow jam’ group for all standards. We will provide tunes, parts, etc for all levels of proficiency and all instruments. Some of the tunes can be sent to you in advance.
• Anna will run a Celtic harp group for all standards. She will bring some written music and will also work on a performance piece for a group concert on Sunday.
• If there is a demand, Jon can offer a guitar/mandola and songwriting skills workshop. For non-players, there will also be a vocal workshop
in preparation for a performance piece on Sunday.
• The group will run a “how to form and run a band” session.
• On Saturday, the band will perform their “History of the Celtic Harp” slide show/narrative/live music presentation.
• There will be a Saturday evening concert by Moonrakers as a public event.
Provided you have a basic proficiency of your chosen instrument, we’ll accommodate you. We’ll provide music, but playing by ear is also OK. We can discuss your requirements on the phone – call us! We’ll send
a few tunes and songs in advance to work on before the weekend, and would encourage a “research” element allows you to use the wonderful library at Halsway Manor. For enquiries relating to the music only,
