Julia Rai has been working with metal clay since 2004 and teaching it since 2007. She holds PMC Certification from Rio Grande and Art Clay Level 1 and Level 2 Certification. She also holds the City and Guilds 7407 Further Education Teaching Qualification.

She teaches a variety of subjects for several jewellery schools in the UK, including unique textures for metal clay, metal clay lentil beads and complex hollow forms, adding colour to metal, unique texture making and Art Clay Level 1 and 2 Diploma courses.

She has online classes through London Jewellery School Online and Craftcast. She also writes regularly for Making Jewellery Magazine.

She is the Director of the Metal Clay Academy, an online resource for everyone interested in metal clay.

Julia’s work has been featured on the front cover of The Art and Design of Metal Clay Jewelry Calendar 2010 and the back cover of the PMC Guild Annual 2009. She has exhibited her work in the PMC Conference Cultural Messages Exhibition 2010, the Bead Dreams Exhibition 2010 and on the Metal Clay Masters Registry website. Her work has won awards in the UK and the US.

Her spare time is currently taken up with working on projects for the Metal Clay Masters Registry and she has achieved Registry IV, the first person in the World to do so.
