Hi,I'm Julie (Tibetan Name Tenzin Dasal)
I am a qualified social worker with 25 yrs experience in substance misuse work. I'm also a qualified ESL teacher however, for the past 10 yrs I have worked specifically with trauma related issues in asylum seeker & refugee communities.
In 2005 my work with trauma took a more personal turn when my own partner was murdered and it was then that I realised how fragile life can be. With this I made the decision to give up my 9-5 job and travel India to relax and see a different side of life & culture. In Dharamsala, my life took a very different path and following a number of deeply spiritual experiences I was offered the opportunity of becoming a scholar of Tibetan Buddhism at Namgyal Monastery home to HH The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. Since returning to the UK, I now teach Tibetan Buddhism to anyone who wants to learn about this beautiful way of life. Additionally I work from a Buddhist perspective with people who are experiencing truama as a result of murder, manslaughter or serious crime.
