I am a music teacher based in Redland, Bristol.

I believe patience, humour, listening, and flexibility are all fundamental to a positive learning experience.

Whether you are looking to join a local choir, learning to read music, finding your singing voice, or learning to play piano... I am here to help. My students see results in the areas they are keen to progress. I never follow a strict syllabus, as I believe the role of a private teacher is to be reactive to the needs of the individual.

Katie was born and raised in North Vancouver, Canada; immigrating to the UK in 2006. Prior to immigration, Katie studied Music Performance and Foundation Skills at Capilano University. She received a Bachelor of Music Transfer Diploma as a Voice Major (Piano Minor) after completing the 2 year programme.

After settling in Bristol, Katie was accepted to the BA in Music (Hons) programme at Bristol University. She graduated with 1st Class honours, and is currently in the process of publishing her final year dissertation.

As a Musician, Katie loves all kinds of music. Having spent her youth in Jazz Bands, Concert Bands, Jazz Choirs, Concert Choirs, Church Choirs, Marching Bands, and Musicals... she's learned to love it all. She is currently working with Pianist Joshua Bishop on their Rufus Wainwright Project. They are hoping to record their covers soon, and perform them at The Little Black Box Theatre in Redland (TBA).

Hobbies include Photography, Cooking, Hiking in Wales, Skiing in Canada, Running on the Downs, and Tasting good Wine and Cheese!

Group Classes

Little Black Box Community Choir

Katie Williams is delighted to be the new Choral Director for 'The Little Black Box Theatre' Community Choir.

We meet on Monday Evenings from 7-9pm.

We are a 'Drop In' Choir. This means that we welcome new members ALL YEAR ROUND! This choir is relatively new, and growing. We have relatively good balance between parts, and are able to make a good balanced sound. No Auditions. We are a very inclusive and friendly bunch!

All Ages Welcome. We currently have members whose ages span 5 Decades. Their musical tastes are just as diverse!

This Term We are singing songs including: 'Seasons of Love' from RENT, 'In My Life' by The Beatles, 'Hungry Heart' by Bruce Springsteen, 'God Only Knows' by The Beach Boys, and 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen. I always take repertoire recommendations from the choir and enjoy working on vocal technique and aural skills whilst learning fun music in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Some songs are sung a cappella, and others with piano accompaniment.

For more information on the choir and the Choral Director, please see Katie Williams' Website: www.katiewilliamsmusic.com
