Independent Cantonese Chinese Tutor

I have been teaching Cantonese and reading & writing Chinese for 16 years.

Direct approach is used in class which means that only the target language (Cantonese) will be used as the medium of instruction since the first lesson. Even after the first session, the learner will be able to introduce themselves in simple Cantonese.

My course materials are self-authored (based on cognitive and educational psychology principles) and corresponds to Direct language teaching approach. Each chapter focuses on a specific language skill. Over time, as the learner will combine the skills and produce their own sentences.

I am an independent language tutor - meeting time and venues can be arranged easier than through a language agency. But I am also with a few language agencies, if you prefer it that way.

Experience

Cantonese tutor

I have been using my excellent presentation and interpersonal skills in my job as a Cantonese tutor in private and business settings in the past 7 years. I enjoy my work very much. Besides teaching (using ‘Direct method’ – English is avoided in class!), I prepare teaching materials: researching, producing and proof-reading my self-written textbooks. My students come from a wide range of backgrounds – from medical professionals to English teachers. Under my fantastic instructions, they are able to speak Cantonese fluently, for some, read and write Chinese. These make me feel incredibly rewarded. I do care about my students’ learning experience. I develop feedback forms to gather their comments. I value highly of and take their feedbacks on board.
