I'm flute teacher based in London. I teach both children and adults ranging in ability from absolute beginners to those studying for their music degrees. I’m available for modern and baroque flute lessons.

My teaching experience includes 15 years of private tuition and I'm currently flute teacher at Graveney School in Tooting. I was a flute teacher for the University of East Anglia from 2007-11 and I've worked for school projects.

I prepare students for graded exams, university, A-Level and GCSE exams, concerts and competitions. I also teach several students, especially adult learners, who just want to learn for their own enjoyment.

Here is my biography

Laura Piras (B.A. (Hons) Music, MMus, MA RAM (Distinction) is a versatile flautist and teacher.

Laura read music at the University of East Anglia, receiving a B.A. (Hons) and a M.Mus in Performance Studies in flute. She was awarded four major performance scholarships from the school which enabled her to receive flute lessons from William Sleath and Paul-Edmund Davies. On graduating she was awarded the Dorothea and Rowan Hare Young Musicians Concert, a prize awarded to one UEA music graduate per year.

She then studied for a M.A. in Historical Performance at the Royal Academy of Music with Lisa Beznosiuk and Rachel Brown, graduating with Distinction and winning the prestigious Nancy Nuttall Early Music Prize.

Laura now specialises in the performance of 17th and 18th century works on historical flutes. She has performed with The Hanover Band, Parley of Instruments, the London Baroque Sinfonia, The London Handel Orchestra, Arcangelo, the International Baroque Players and The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment as part of the Ann & Peter Law Experience. She has also recently made her Wigmore Hall debut. She has performed in concerts directed by Sir Mark Elder, Jeffrey Skidmore and Laurence Cummings. She has also performed regularly as a soloist in the RAM/Kohn Bach Cantata Series directed by Iain Ledingham, including a concert directed by John Butt.
