I am a professional singer and actor, who has taught Speech, Drama, Communication Skills, Music Theatre and Singing for over 20 years. I have also been an international examiner for Trinity College London and have frequently examined all over the world in these subjects.

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

Acting/Singing roles include 'The Big Picnic',filmed by BBC 2 and 'Ane Satyre of the Thrie Estaites' at the Edinburgh International Festival and in Poland.

Concert performances include the 'Seychelles International Festival of Classical Music' and performances in Nairobi, as well as New York cable television, Boston and Rhode Island, U.S.A.

Experience

Head of Department, Belmont House School, Glasgow.

I started out as a secondary school Modern Languages teacher (French and German) and subsequently was appointed head of department in a private boys' school, setting up the German department, before leaving school teaching to join Scottish Opera.(The headmaster tried to persuade me not to leave school teaching, but I was keen to embark on a professional singing career.)
My wealth of teaching and performing experience has been invaluable in my private teaching practice, especially being a linguist, which enables me to coach classically minded singers, who have to be able to sing in a variety of modern languages. My knowledge of German and French is extremely relevant to the teaching and performance of German lieder and French chansons and my vast experience as an international examiner in all the subjects listed above contributes considerably to all aspects of my teaching ability.
After leaving Scottish Opera, I embarked on a free-lance singing career as well as gaining additional qualifications in Speech and Drama teaching.
