I have designed and made jewellery in precious and mixed materials for ten years, selling through exhibitions, galleries and boutique shops. I am particularly interested in colouring anodised aluminium, a subject which I have written extensively about.

Since 2003 I have worked on projects with schools, colleges, galleries and community groups. I have also taught as a visiting lecturer for degree courses in jewellery, metalwork and textile print. Since 2004 I have taught private classes from my studio for small groups or individuals.

I offer a range of courses, covering subjects such as traditional Silversmithing and Jewellery, Colouring Anodised Aluminium For Jewellery, and Mixed Media Jewellery.

One-to-one lessons

Group Classes

Anodised Aluminium: Intense Colour

This two-day workshop offers an in depth introduction to the decorative colouring of anodised aluminium – perfect for jewellery or sculpture. Students will learn about the anodising process and be introduced to a wide variety of techniques including direct application, dip-dyeing, printmaking and the use of resists, all of which can be tried out on pre-anodised sheet to create samples. Learning through demonstrations and experimentation students will be encouraged to develop an approach that suits them. The focus is on decorative colouring and not a finished piece, although some specific assembly techniques will be shown and advice on tools given. You will come away from the workshop with plenty of samples to use for your own projects or to keep as reference. Larger sized pieces can also be produced up to A3. Additional pre-anodised aluminium, dyes and my book will be available to buy during the weekend.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those with a some experience.
