o step into Lisa Olson’s shoes is to experience an explosion of innovative colour and design. The interior positively exudes creative thinking and adorning the Cath Kidston walls are some of the most must-have accessories Lisa creates including chic handbags, slippers, tea cosies, decorative bowls and jewellery. It is a testament to Lisa’s teaching skills and personality that ensure that the courses she runs weekly are frequently booked well in advance.

No prim and proper reserved “look as I do school of tutoring here”, guests are encouraged to give full vent to their creative streak - we all have one! Felt-makers have full input to their own design, from choosing the colour of the wool fibre, form and finishing touches. However it is Lisa’s attention to personal detail which puts her at the top of her league in this craft, even down to welcome tea and cakes served with no less style than at the Ritz.

Lisa Olson’s love affair with creative arts started at school with needle work and textile arts, Lisa quickly realised that she had a natural flair and ability to create wonderful things with threads, fabric, ribbons, buttons and left over bits and bobs.

After a short time Lisa began making things for family and friends adding finishing touches to a room such as a roman blind, customising bags and making unique accessories.

Lisa’s interest in creative pastimes continued into adulthood where she was able to save money by making and customising not only her wardrobe but home too.

Over the past 25 years Lisa has continued to develop her skills in all areas of creativity, from cleverly repairing worn trousers, creating decorative items for the home, up-cycling, paper crafting and felt-making. Lisa has acquired many industry standard accreditations and qualifications.

Lisa has travelled the UK as an experienced and published arts and crafts demonstrator for a leading arts and crafts supplier, spreading her message of creativity... promoting inclusion and confidence building across the UK.

Experience

Background & Experience

travelling the UK as an experienced and published arts & crafts demonstrator. A passion for the arts, Lisa has spread her message of creativity... promoting inclusion and confidence building. Always open to new experiences, and taking inspiration from traditional crafting techniques, Lisa turned her attention, and passion, to felt making.

It was a steep learning curve, but Lisa soon found her felt items in much demand at the national craft fairs she attended, alongside her acclaimed handmade cards. Commissions have followed, including special 'Safari' themed felt bags for local charity, African Joy.

Lisa’s background in creative arts started at school when she passed her needlework and textiles exams. Following this Lisa made her own clothes to save money whilst studying, which then grew into a love of textiles for home furnishings. Having made greetings cards with left over bits of fabric and recycled items from around the home, felt-making was the next natural step.
