My name is Liz Walters.
I have over 16 years experience in teaching and performing Japanese Taiko (Wadaiko). I have travelled extensively throughout Europe and worldwide (including Japan) teaching and performing with other world musicains.

I perform regularly with my Taiko Group 'Tamashii Daiko' and facilitate many public and school workshops throughout the UK.
I also teach Taiko throughout the year in Japan, Italy and France.

Taiko 5 Day Residential/ Non Residential Summer School

Learn about & Experience the challenging, energetic and dynamic ‘Ad Lib’ Hokuriku Style of Taiko using the traditional Mitsu Uchi Rhythm concluding with a Performance Piece

This intensive Course will include work on the following:-

Understanding ‘Taiko- Do’
Increasing stamina & muscle strength through Taiko exercises
Improving general Taiko technique
Getting to grips with one of the most challenging of Taiko rhythms – Mitsu Uchi
Learning typical traditional Hokuriku Rhythms
Learning how to bring grace, fluidity and strength into Taiko playing

Please understand that there are a limited number of places on this Course, so you are advised to book early!

Participants must have previous Taiko experience or a good sense of rhythm!
