Sight Reading for Singers

Music Sight Reading - A Class for Singers

Sight Reading and Sight Singing refer to the ability to read and sing a piece of music previously unseen and unrehearsed. We offer a step-by-step approach to music literacy for singers, and will show you that learning to read music can be fun!

Why learn to read music???

Professional singers know why it is so important to be able to read music. Those who read music get hired for studio recording (“session”) work over those who don’t read. Time is money, and producers and directors want people who can look at a piece of music and sing it “at sight” rather than having to get someone to play it for them first. Singers who don’t read music are always a step behind, and not considered with the same respect given to “real musicians”.

Singers who apply for acceptance to college music programs are required to pass a rigorous sight reading exam, and this is the area in which most students find their greatest challenge. We can help you pass the sight reading exam with flying colors.

Reading music will free you from dependence on someone to play the song for you, speed up the learning process for any musical endeavor, and ultimately make you more in demand as a singer.

Group Voice Class

Group Voice Lessons

Not ready to jump into one-on-one private voice lessons? Or do you sing with a group that needs some fine-tuning? Group voice lessons may be the answer for you. Learn the fundamentals of vocal technique in a low-stress, supportive group environment.

If you already have 2 or more friends who would like to take group lessons together, let us know, and we'll set up a day and time that works for you. We can help you get your duet, trio, quartet, or larger ensemble singing together in perfect harmony.

Or, if you don't have a group formed already, you may join our Tuesday night class by signing up on our website: www.LoriMoranMusic.com

We have had years of experience working with large and small groups. The same vocal techniques and skills used in individual lessons are applied in group lessons, but special attention is given to the group blend, balance, and tuning.

Lessons for your group may be scheduled in 30, 45 and 60 minute sessions, weekly or on an as-needed basis, in our studios, in your home, or other rehearsal space.
