Maria has been teaching bellydance for the past 8 years and Bollywood for 2 years. She holds a Higher National Diploma in Dance from BIFE in Bray, Co. Wicklow and a Masters in Dance Movement Psychotherapy from Barcelona. Her stage name is Etoile de la Mer which is French for Star of the Sea. She has completed advanced training workshops with world famous Master dancers such as Serena Ramzy, Mercedes Nieto, Gwenaele la Sirene, Shafeek Ibrahim, Houria and many more as well as Ireland's Master dancers such as Lisa Collins, Azaria Starfire, Michelle Carter, Sarah Mackey and Sarah Ryan. She has performed nationwide at the Shake Festival (2008), Wicklow Arts Festival (2010),Festival of the Fires (2011) and Glendaoulgh Midsummer Festival (2013). Her classes emphasise the importance of connecting mind, body and soul as well as having fun!

Children's birthday parties also catered for as well as hen nights and special events. Sorry, no stag nights!


Bellydance Instructor

East Coast Bellydance classes were taught by Maria in Wicklow Community Hall, Wicklow town for over 3 years. Level 1 and Level 2 Beginners Bellydance was taught to women of all different ages and on completion of a 5 week course certificates were presented to students for their acheivements. Maria also taught Bellydance and Bollywood in local schools in the Wicklow area. Classes are now being held in Gorey and Arklow but Maria is available to teach private or group lessons in surrounding areas if booked in advance

Dance Movement Psychotherapy is the psychotherapeutic use of dance and movement to further the individuals social, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being within the context of a therapeutic relationship. It is based on the well-accepted premise that the mind and body are intrinsically connected and that movement reflects personality and patterns of thinking.

Classes will start and finish on time and for health and safety reasons participants must be present for the warm-up and cool-down in order to avoid injury and gain full benefit of the classes
