I have been a professional photographer for over ten years and am co-founder of Studio Time photo.

My partner Tony Thorton, who himself has been in the business for thirty years, run an established number of workshops, group courses and one to one tuition to suit a wide range of needs for beginners to professionals.

Fashion and Beauty Photography

Look at any magazine, hair shoot or ad campaign and you will see the use of stunning fashion and beauty lighting techniques.
This course is designed to teach you how to light and shoot this ever-popular style of shot. The course is aimed at complete beginners through to advanced amateurs, and is a practical hand’s on course.

Studio Flash Lighting Course

Full day course, all studio equipment and Photographic model provided by StudioTime.

If you’ve never worked in a studio using studio flash lighting or want to understand photographic studio technique more, then this is the course for you.
This course is aimed at complete beginners through to advanced amateurs, or as a refresher for pros and is a practical hand’s on course. All your shots will be tested on a photographic model supplied on the day
Course Overview:

* Camera set-up colour temperature why you get a colour cast and how to white balance with a grey card.

* Learn to work with studio flashlights safely and confidently.

* You will see the effect of soft boxes, umbrellas, snoots and grid sets.

* Learn what a main lights function is; and how to use fill lights, back lights and rim lights and be shown how they affect the final image.

* How to use both soft and hard lighting to change the mood and effect of a portrait.

* Low key and High key lighting

* See how to use reflectors.

* How to separate the subject from the background using lighting.

* learn three point lighting.

BTEC HND

Institution: 
Bournemouth and Poole college of art and design
I studied at Bournemouth and Poole college of art and design on the two year HND course. This course is not available anymore and has morphed into the degree course. The college and course had some famous photographers as students of it, these include Nick Knight and Wolfgang Tillmans. After finishing my studies at Bournemouth I returned to London to start assisting.

BTEC ND

After leaving school I went traveling on my return I enrolled to City of Westminster college to take a two year BTEC course in photography. This gave me my basic grounding in a lot of technical aspects of photography. Including studio flash and large format film cameras.

THE SMALL PRINT

Booking Deposit:

To book a course place you will need to pay a deposit of £50 per course, to secure you date and time. The remainder is then due at the end of your hire period. Equipment hire will require a holding deposit for accidents or damage.

Cancellations and changes:

If you cancel a booking we will retain your deposit. You can change may be able to change your date but please call us to check.

We ONLY accept payment in cash, card or online via Google Checkout.
