Maxine has been practicing yoga for 20 years, and teaching professionally for 9. Qualifications: British Wheel of Yoga, Birthlight (pregnancy) Sitaram Yoga (postnatal) qualified. She is also a pranayama teacher from the Kaivalydhama Institute.
Maxine's teaching style is hatha, rooted in classical yoga, Iyengar and yin approaches with focus on pranayama (breathing), building strength and stamina, and mindfulness and relaxation techniques. She runs her own group classes for general, pregnancy, postnatal and Mellow yoga for active ageing in North West London. She also works is privately offering one to one and small group sessions in situ, or at her home studio in NW11.

Maxine teaches general yoga of all levels, restorative yoga, mellow yoga for active ageing, pregnancy, postnatal recovery with or without baby present, yoga for recovery from illness or specific injury. and for those suffering from MS, cancer, stress, depression and mental illness.
Her practice has been influenced by many great teachers whose workshops and trainings she has attended. Teachers included: Sri O.P Tiwari, head of the Kaivalydhama Institute, Sarah Powers, Mukunda Styles, Kausthub Desikachar, Tias Little, Donna Farhi, Francoise Barbira Freedman, Ananda Balayogi of the Gitananda Tradition.

Group Classes
Postnatal yoga
BABY FRIENDLY POSTNATAL YOGA classes s 11.15 – 12.30. Open to all postpartum mums.
Baby friendly postnatal yoga offers a highly effective way to get back into shape after the birth of your baby. A powerful aid in the overall recovery of your body, it boosts energy, relieves anxiety, and strengthens and tone the body. It is a small group offering an opportunity to de-stress, to get fit, to meet other mums and babies in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Payment is per block. (Usually 4 - 6 weeks). Mothers can join anytime, space permitting, and pay pro-rata for the remainder of the block ( cost: £14 per session).
There is no beginning, middle or end to classes so it is fine to join any time with your baby as Maxine re-visits all the various 'themes' of the class regularly. These range from toning the pelvic floor muscles, strengthening core muscles of the body, body re- alignment, relief of back & tight sholulders to relaxation and breathing techniques.
N.B You are welcome to 'make up' missed classes by coming to general yoga classes anytime ( Tuesdays 9.30 - 11.00 & 18.15 - 19.45) which is a great opportunity to experience yoga without your baby. The practices will be modified to suit your particular needs.

Pregnancy Yoga
Tuesday Evenings: 8.00 – 9.30 Alyth Gardens, Temple Fortune NW11
Suitable for all levels of fitness and for all stages of pregnancy from 12 weeks, this antenatal yoga offers expert preparation for labour, birth and motherhood. It includes helps build stamina, strength, and flexibility, whilst calming the mind and improving your general energy levels and well being. It is recommended to do yoga right up until your delivery date as it offers the perfect training (i.e breathing techniques, postures, exercise, and relaxation techniques) to ease you through the whole experience of pregnancy labour and birth.
The class is small to permit personal attention (if desired). Payment is termly, or until your due date, if it falls earlier
Students can join mid-term if there are spaces still available and can pay pro-rata for the remainder of the term (@£14 per session plus one-off £5 registration/admin fee).

General (hatha) Yoga
About the classes: Suitable for beginners, as well as those with more experience who want to re-visit the fundamental principles of yoga. The groups are kept small, to permit personal attention (if so desired) and to and to work to the specific needs and interests of the group. The style of yoga is ‘hatha’. Each class includes yoga postures, breathing practices and a relaxation period at the end of the session.
Classes run twice a week: Tuesday Mornings 9.30 - 11.00 & Tuesday Evenings: 6.15 – 7.45
Bookable per per term (approx 10 weeks @ £13 = £130). Students can join anytime, space permitting, and pay pro-rata for the remainder of that term.
Newcomers are welcome to attend a trial class (£13.00)
Should you be unable to make your class, you can attend any other am/pm session within the duration of the term, instead.
