I am a retired doctor and I teach meditation and mindfulness at Nine Springs Natural Health Centre in Yeovil, Somerset. I am a trained teacher of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Programme developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, and have taught over 30 courses, either alone or with a co-teacher. I have also trained to deliver the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for people with Cancer Programme. Both these course take the form of 2 hour classes over 8 weeks and they run in the school terms.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course
MBSR is an acclaimed and well-researched programme that helps people reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Over 8 weeks, the group meets weekly for 2 hours, and home practice is expected between sessions. By the end of the programme, many people report feeling calmer, more focused, sleeping better, and being less reactive to life's challenges.
There is an afternoon class 3.30 to 5.30 and an evening class 6-8pm to suit different schedules.

THE SMALL PRINT
Bookings require half the course fee as a deposit, with the balance paid before the course begins. At time of writing (June 2014) the cost is £225. I speak to all prospective students personally to be sure this is the right course for you. The course teaches you meditation practices and you are provided with guided CDs for home practice of 30 minutes per day. Meditation is not suitable for people with serious mental health problems.
