I am an experienced teacher and have taught students of all backgrounds, ages and abilities. I work both in schools and privately as a tutor focussing not only on the student's academic needs but also on their confidence that supports that progress. Parents and teachers have been amazed with the improvements in students’ confidence, attitude towards their learning and most importantly, their self esteem. This was sent to a Head of House from a parent of a child I taught last term:
“Could you please pass on our very belated thanks to Mrs Atkinson for the extra maths lessons given to A earlier on in the year. They were invaluable in helping him to focus on some of the basics that he had lost sight of while trying to keep up in the top set.”

I teach Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, taking students into Sats or common entrance examinations with confidence. English - including reading, writing - punctuation and sentence structure, comprehension; Maths concepts - such as fractions, decimals, percentages, algebra as well as tables and the four operations of adding, subtraction, multiplication and division. I work with the student on the areas they need, not the agenda of the class.

At Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 we focus on the preparations for continual exam assessment and coursework. I ensure that students know how to plan effectively as this supports written work in all subjects and gives them confidence to express themselves fluidly and coherently.

I also give talks to schools, groups, clubs and societies about bees and their essential role in polination the food chain. I am a beekeeper and have 9 beehives which polinate the gardens and fields around our garden.
