Nicky Catterwell
Nicky studied for her Masters Degree in Music Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under Jonathan Burgess (flute) and Nicola Dowton (piccolo), both of the Orchestra of the Welsh National Opera, and has had one-to-one masterclasses with Anna Noakes. She has been involved with the Ashover Festival 2009 & 2010, a resident member of the Cardiff Camerata Orchestra 2008-10, as well as working as a soloist with the Canterbury Orchestra, Maidstone Wind Symphony and the City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra.
Nicky works with a number of ensembles including Silberlicht, a vibrant flute trio, Brides of Rain, a lively celtic-folk-rock band, swing bands including The Roger Luxton Dance Band and pit orchestras for a number of musicals, using her range of instruments from piccolo down to tenor saxophone. She is also a busy soloist, working with pianist Jérôme Sadler who studied music at Cambridge University, and completed his postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music under John Barstow and Gordon Fergus-Thompson in London, and Izaak Zetel in Cologne.
On top of this Nicky also provides not just instrumental teaching, but also school classroom music lessons, currently providing Key Stage 1 classes in the Tunbridge Wells area.
