Philippa Richardson
Philippa’s interest in music began at primary school. She took instrumental lessons in flute and vocal tuition at the early age of 7 and quickly became involved in choirs, orchestras, solo performing and ensemble work under the direction of her various music teachers. Aged 10, Philippa extended her studies to include piano and achieved two music scholarships.
At secondary school level, Philippa quickly achieved her ABRSM grade 5 theory exam, and continued her studies up to grade 6 piano and grade 8 in both singing and flute. She obtained all her grades at Merit or Distinction level. Philippa further extended her musical knowledge by studying A-Levels in Music and Music Technology, and managed to obtain places into all universities she applied to.
Now aged 21, Philippa has graduated with an Honours degree from Bath Spa University, where she trained as a first study singer. Other modules included Opera, Composition, Performance Practice, Community Music and Musicology. She has covered an extensive variety of repertoire, on all instruments, and performed on a number of occasions. Performances have taken place at St. Peters Basilica, The Pantheon, St. Peters Square, Bath Abbey, Wells Cathedral, Corsham Court, St Michaels Without, Worcester Cathedral, Bath Assembly Rooms and low key events such as termly school concerts and voluntary performances to the elderly.
