Rana Dutta was born in Kolkata, India. He began his Aikido study in 1992 and trained in two different styles of aikido schools. He was a founding member of two Aikido organizations of India and shared close relationship with them for many years.

Rana began his aikido career in Calcutta with India’s first Aikido Dojo Kokusai Aikido Kenshukai Kobayashi Hirokazu Ha. He has trained under Shihan Andre Cognard, Sensei Sylvie Wiedemann, Sensei Pascal Mennesson, Sensei Veroniq Anslan of the same school.

His second school of aikido is the Aikikai. Aikikai is the main school of Aikido Founder, Morihei Ueshiba.

He has trained under Shihan Gaku Homma, Shihan Terry W. Ezra, Sensei T. K. Sakurai and Sensei Martin Pleizier.

Rana has attended International Aikido seminar held in Germany conducted by Shihan Katsuaki Asai and Shihan Tsuruzo Miyamoto.

Rana was examined for his Shodan (Black Belt) by Shihan Zenko N. Okimura. Shihan Zenko N. Okimura holds a 7th Dan certified instructor rank from Aikikai Hombu Dojo Japan. Rana has trained intensively under Shihan Zenko N. Okimura and Sensei Zohreh Soofi.

Rana is the first Indian to begin aikido training in India that has received his Shodan from Aikikai Hombu Dojo. His wish is to dedicate himself to the development of the human consciousness and the spreading of peace and harmony through intensive Aikido training and living the teachings of Aikido in daily life.
