Rattlejag Morris are different from other sides in that we dance our own style of dances developed from material collected in South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. We are a mixed side, formed in January 2002, with the aim of reviving and developing a local dance tradition from material collected in South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire

Rattlejag Morris aim to look and sound different. In some dances, rattles and shakers are used to make lots of commotion, in others sticks with bells and ribbons are used. Music is provided by local bagpipes, fiddle and melodeon, plus a variety of percussion instruments.

Our dances are easy to learn and we are always happy to welcome new dancers or musicians.

We practice on Monday nights at 8.30pm in the Methodist Church Hall on Union Street in Retford, September until April. For further details or to see our gallery of photos, please visit our website
