Samantha McCartney

I am a Violin and Viola tutor located in the Forest Hill area. I graduated from Trinity College of Music (London) in 1998. My principal study was the Viola and my second study was Violin.

My music education

I started to learn the violin at my infant school when I was 9 years old and over the next few years progressed to Grade 8 In 1990 I auditioned and was accepted to the Trinity College of Music (London) Junior Department where I studied the Violin and Viola under the guidance of Aidan Massey and Patricia Hohmann-Barker, during this period I had the opportunity to play in many of London‘s prestigious venues.

In 1994 I auditioned for a place at Trinity College of Music (London) to study for the BMus TCM Hons degree and was granted an unconditional offer. My tutors were Rusen Gunes Viola and Peter Lewis Violin.

Professional experience

I have played in Symphony and Pit Orchestras, worked as a Session musician and played in a duet at professional functions and weddings.

I am a qualified secondary school teacher (PGCE and QTS) and have been Head of Music since 2003 teaching Viola and Violin.
