Sofie Cornillon Guerrero

I am a visual artist, with a strong background in dance and performance arts, and set and costume design for screen and stage, including "Hotel Follies" with Christopher Marney in 2009. I was classically trained in ballet in Geneva, where I was awarded a Nyon Choreographic scholarship, and studied contemporary dance under Merce Cunningham in New York.
In 1990, after the birth of my daughter,I started to paint and studied with Ruth Eisenhart at Central St Martin, London.

In 2007 I collaborated as a photographer and graphic artist during two field trips visiting Children charities in Africa and India for the British philanthropist organization Prospero World and the two resulting documentary films: “Prospero in Africa” and “Prospero in India”.

My own artworks have explored mediums of fabric, colour, light, dance and movement, including "Choreocalligraphies" at the Music Room (2008), and the filmed work, "The Girl with the Long Piece of String" (2006), and a well-received solo exhibition of 3D Wall hangings as part of "Hidden Art" in 2002.

In 2000 I created "Painting Explorers", Art workshops for children and teenagers where I teach creative painting and life drawing and movements. My own work in film and my interest in narrative, comics led me to explore the world of Manga comics. I have been teaching Manga workshops since 2006. They have been featured In 2010, as part of BBC Blast.

I take classes in my studio in Finsbury Park, London and teach small groups of maximum 6 students.
