Stephen Harvey
I am an experienced studio engineer and producer, and live sound engineer. My aim is to help you get the best from the equipment that you can get access to, from choosing what will fit your budget and needs, through to using it to record yourself, your band, or others. NOT to prepare you for working on expensive pro kit you'll never afford. (Although I can use that stuff so if you have it..)
I have recorded a number of unsigned bands and artists on location, at home and in the studio, mixed records for them and recorded music for radio plays. Artists I have recorded have gone on to get radio play and done well in events like surface unsigned.
I am familiar with most kit, software and hardware currently in widespread use, and I can help you make the right decisions.
Lessons can be either one off 'How do I use this' or I can provide you with a tailored learning programme over a longer period of time to guide you through the learning curve.
If your whole band wants to learn, I can provide group sessions and workshops too!
From an academic perspective I have a BSc(Hons) in Music technology from Staffordhire university. In 2010 I completed the music educators diploma at Access to music London and passed with distinction, I also have a CTLLS teaching qualification from city and guilds.
In 2008 and 2010 I was the industry adviser on review panels for the BA Music production and BA music Production & performance courses at South Essex college, and I have worked for several years in schools as a music technician providing technical support, specialist music technology training to teachers, and teaching music technology at AS/A2
