I am a graduate of the University of Sussex (BSc, Chemistry with Materials Science, Class 1 Hons, 1984-86), the Open University (BA, Maths, Science and Technology, 1980-84) and the University of Cranfield (MSc, Aerospace Materials Engineering, 1987). I am a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), a Chartered Chemist (CChem) and a Chartered Scientist (CSci)and registered with the General Teaching Council (GTC). I also hold an Advanced Diploma in Education (AdDipEd, Language and Literacy) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Studies in Education (PGCPSE, Language, Literacy and Learning). I have CRB enhanced clearance (July 2011). I am also a certified NLP Practitioner.

I have been a teacher of GCSE Science and A level and IB Chemistry in secondary education for over 25 years finishing up as Head of Science in a medium sized comprehensive school in Northamptonshire. I have also taught GCSE Maths, Technology, Business Studies, ICT & English. At various times and in various schools I have held posts as Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Coordinator, CASE (Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education) Coordinator, GCSE coursework coordinator, Head of Chemistry and Technology Across the Curriculum Coordinator. I have also been an ITT and NQT mentor for all of that time and a professional performance coach to more experienced colleagues.

From 1992 to 1993 I was Senior Lecturer in Science Education at De Montfort University, Bedford, tutoring Science Subject and Professional Studies on their BEd, BA and PGCE courses. I have also been an Associate Lecturer with the Open University since 1987 tutoring on their PGCE course in addition to the science and technology foundation courses and a MSc supervisor (Manufacturing Engineering). I am also a PGCE tutor for Middlesex University, Hibernia College UK and a visiting lecturer at the University of Leicester, Science Learning Centre.
