I have been self-employed as a freelance musician and teacher since since completing my music degree in 1990.

I have taught piano and music theory for more than 20 years, initially working from my home address before moving to a studio in 36 Lime Street, Newcastle.

I have taught a wide variety of students from all different backgrounds and levels of ability. I love my work. Previously I have worked as a part time lecturer in music for Newcastle College and City of Sunderland College and have also been a piano tutor for music undergraduates at Newcastle University.

My approach to teaching is to work with each student as an individual and tailor the tuition to suit their preferences with regard to styles of music and interests. I am friendly and approachable.

Some student follow the traditional 'classical' route and I regularly enter candidates for ABRSM exams whereas other students prefer to learn purely for enjoyment and follow their own musical interests whether that be popular styles or jazz. I am also a working media composer so tuition is also available in music theory, composition or music technology.

I particularly enjoy working with adult learners who are perhaps returning to the piano after initial lessons as a child. Its feels great to help to rekindle some of the joy that playing music can bring.

Do please get in touch to organise a free consultation and we can have a chat find out more about what you would like to achieve in your lessons.

I very much look forward to hearing from you.
