Steve O'Gorman
I am a Northamptonshire based musician and has recently spent three years at Leeds College of Music where he earned a BA (Hons) in Jazz Studies.
I am an Alto / Soprano saxophonist and have built up extensive experience in performing and session playing alike. I have played many venues up and down the country including The Queen Elizabeth Hall and The Royal Albert Hall and was given a National Youth award for best improvisor in 2000
During my time at Leeds I was able to play with and also listen to a lot of great musicians, including my teacher Joel Purnell. I was a member of the college big band under the direction of Al Wood and I was lucky enough to perform with special guest Sir John Dankworth. Other work shops include that of Gerald Presencer, The Yellow Jackets and the legendary saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi
I also won the George Murphy Prize for Jazz Saxophone in 2007
As well as working with Jazz ensembles and big bands, I have a regular function band who have an ever increasing clientele
At the moment I am teaching, writing and arranging music and is continually looking for new projects to get his teeth into.
