Having studied extensively, I am skilled in a number of techniques for intermediate and higher levels, as well as having experience in teaching beginners and helping students develop, regardless of their abilities.

Lessons are half an hour for children and one hour for adults. I can also prepare students for associated board exams grades 1-8.

If you do not already have a cello or are not sure whether to invest in one until you become more accomplished, I can help you to rent an instrument and advise on which size is suitable. Children will also need a suitable chair that is low enough to allow the child's knees to bend at a 90 degree angle.

I am passionate about the cello and in teaching others to play well, whatever their age. I strongly believe that establishing a sound technique is fundamental to maximize achievement and enjoyment on the instrument.

Most of all is to have fun!

THE SMALL PRINT

Booking lessons: When booking lessons, please make sure you note the time and date booked and arrive at the lesson on time. Booking lessons is entirely your responsibility and changes to bookings must be notified by phone as soon as possible. You may book a series of lessons at once or you may book each week. If you are not sure of your plans for the following week, you may book over the phone, by text or email.

Payment: You may pay with cash or cheque. Either on the day of the lesson or paying in advance.

Cancellations: Please call to cancel your lesson. If there is no answer, please leave a voicemail. Please do not cancel by text or email as these can go astray!

Before canceling a lesson, please consider that another student may have wanted the same slot. canceling well in advance can enable me to fill the slot with another student but I will most probably not be able to fill that slot if it is cancelled at short notice. In this case, lessons cancelled within 24 hours or missed entirely must be paid for in full and for lessons cancelled within 48 hours, half of your payment must be charged.

Rebooking your lesson to another time on the same day within 48 hours will not affect your deposit and no cancellation charges will apply.

In the event of me having to re-book a lesson, I will call giving as much notice as possible to rearrange the lesson at your most convenient time.

Refunds: If you would like your payment refunded, only for those who paid in advance, before the lesson you must request this at least 48 hours before your booked time. No refund can be made for a lesson you have received or missed.
