Wendy Ward
Wendy has been teaching dressmaking, pattern cutting and textiles at various colleges and adult education centres in and around Brighton and Hove since 2007. Although she still teaches for the Friends Centre in Brighton, in 2010 she decided to start teaching her own independent classes. She has a degree in Fashion Design, an MA in Design and is a fully qualified teacher.
Before teaching, I worked as a designer and product developer in the fashion industry for 7 years.
I write a regular column for Love Sewing magazine and my first sewing book was published in 2014: “The Beginner’s Guide to Dressmaking” a hands-on dressmaking book for adults containing 6 projects, 14 key dressmaking techniques and full-size pull-out patterns. My second dressmaking book for adults “A Beginner’s Guide to Making Skirts” with 24 skirt patterns covering 10 sizes was published by Cico in November 2016.
