Alexander lessons help people to avoid back, neck and shoulder pain, manage stress and move more gracefully. A Medical Research Council funded trial involving back pain sufferers has shown that the technique significantly improves function and quality of life and reduces pain.

Barn Hill Alexander has an enthusiastic customer base of people who have found the technique helped them to achieve their goals, for example to resume body-building after injury, to manage a business without daily back pain, or simply to improve their posture and their confidence.

Sessions at Barn Hill Alexander are one to one and take place in a peaceful room overlooking a garden. They include gentle hands-on work and thinking afresh about ordinary movements.

I have been teaching the technique since 1995 and taught at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for ten years.

Experience

Member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique

I trained as a teacher with the late Walter Carrington, one of the first teachers trained by F.M. Alexander, and am a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT), the oldest and largest professional body of Alexander teachers worldwide. The Society was founded in 1958 to maintain and improve professional standards.
