Yvette is a senior tutor with the Josephine Wise Academy of Arabic Dance and a teacher of many years’ experience, who specializes in EGYPTIAN, ARABIC FUSION, BURLESQUE and BOLLYWOOD Dance. Based in Stroud and London, she teaches workshops across the UK and France.

Yvette discovered her passion for Arabic music and dance by chance while working in a multicultural secondary school in France, thanks to the enthusiastic encouragement of her students - and the many parties to which they invited her!

A founder member of Josephine Wise’s Masriat Dance Company and now a soloist with JOHARA DANCE COMPANY, Yvette has trained in the UK, Egypt, Berlin and California with a number of renowned teachers, and continues to do so in order to expand her learning and own dance development.

Known for her joyful, exuberant and heartfelt style, Yvette is passionate about the dance as a form of self-expression and healing. She set up www.DanceYourselfHappy.com to promote dance as a means of achieving health and well-being, and runs workshops to enable women to discover their own dance. She believes that age, shape, size and level of fitness really doesn't matter. It's not about steps, it's about feeling good.

Most recently she has become a qualified instructor of HEALTHY STEPS (the LEBED METHOD). She knew immediately that this medically recognised form of movement was a fantastic way of helping other women to discover the healing benefits of dance.

Originally created for breast cancer sufferers and people with lymphoedema, it is safe and gentle and so equally beneficial for anyone with limited mobility. It works on the lymphatic system which helps to reduce the swelling associated with lymphoedema, and encourages the body to regain full movement, something that can be difficult after mastectomy and reconstruction. But, whatever your age or level of fitness, Lebed helps you to feel good mentally as well as physically, to improve energy levels - and, most importantly, to have fun!

Yvette also has trained in ZUMBA, a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and International music and dance movements to create a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness system.

Yvette also has a background in book marketing. She has worked at Orion, Hay House, Sutton, The History Press and HarperCollins, where she was a marketing director. She now does freelance marketing and PR, specializing in Publishing and the field of Mind, Body, Spirit.
