Tai Chi Qigong

Qigong (literally means Life/Energy Cultivation)

The philosophy and exercises used in Qigong, also know as Chi Kung, is rooted in the principles of Traditional Chinese medicine and ancient martial arts practice. Qigong uses focused movement, breathing techniques and gentle tendon and muscle stretching postures to cultivate and balance Qi (Chi) or energy in the body. Maintaining and unblocking the meridians to improve both physical and mental well being. Qigong can help improve balance, flexibility, muscle and tendon strength. Qigong helps build your awareness of how your body works and can heal itself at the same time as calming the mind and bringing a sense of relaxation and control into your life.

T'ai Chi Ch'uan (Taijiquan) (literally means Supreme Ultimate Fist)

This a set sequence of slow, flowing movements generally referred to as the “Form”. There are differing styles of form and all have their origins in martial applications. However, today the movements are widely recognised for their health and meditative benefits. The movements are often referred to as moving meditation because of their grace and style. This class will learn the 8, 16 & 24 step Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan as taught by Masters Faye (Li) & Tary Yip of the Deyin Taijiquan Institute (GB).
