Live to Create

Consumer or creator? You decide.

We’re not going to tell you what you can and cannot buy. We’re here to help you discover what you could be doing instead and to nudge you out into your new creative universe.

In this one day workshop, we use ideas, tools, and dynamic activities drawn from corporate best practice, grassroots activism, personal development, dance theory, festivals and personal experience to:

* find out where our creativity has gone

* switch from consumer to creator

* remove the barriers and editors that can hold us back

* uncover our creative identities

* reconnect to our intuition, to what drives our creativity

* discover what creative projects need to succeed

* learn tools to help us communicate and collaborate with others

Together these will help you:

* feel, think and live creatively

* connect creatively with others

* free time and space to do what you really want

The venue, Time for Tea is a charming old silk merchants house decorated with 1940's antiques. You may want to stay for fine teas, homemade cakes and conversation after 4pm when the teashop opens.

No paint required - though you will need to bring a notebook and some coloured pens or pencils.

Live to Create is delivered by founder, activist and creative consultant Lucy Wills.

Experience

House of Fairytales: Mermaid Nation

Mermaid Nation began as a character led performance given and climate protests and camps. Working with The House of Fairytales we have developed a whole world for participants to enter.

Listening to the deep

The ocean is a powerful place, and though it can be very destructive, it also carries the currents and nutrients around the oceans which in turn warm and feed us. Ocean evaporation feeds the clouds that provide our rain and rivers. We contain 80% water, and are born out of salt water – so let’s rethink how and where water fits into our personal stories and the stuff around us.

Rising from the deep

What do fairy and folk tales that speak of the ocean tell us about water and about ourselves? Having looked at these old stories and what they tell us - let’s create something new.

Each day using costume, movement, and voice we take a small group of young people through an exploration of the nature and meaning of the ocean to each of them. At the end of each day we conclude with a performance or other conclusive format that will express their stories to the world – as the group decides.

This session was delivered on the 21st of March at the Shunt Theatre, future dates TBC

We All Reuse

Since 1999, Lucy Wills has been exploring ways to reduce waste and expand reuse both off and online. Her current pilot project may be found at www.weallreuse.com

Last year Lucy was invited to be a fellow of the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce) - "In recognition of your work to raise awareness of sustainability issues in the fashion industry and build a community of environmentally aware designers".

we all reuse has been established to:

* Encourage and publicise the work of designers and manufacturers who reuse industrial and consumer waste.
* Promote reuse as one of the most effective ways of reducing our consumption and therefore our impact on the environment
* Showcase interesting ideas and share our experiences
* Provide a private network where designers and other organisations can meet to discuss the issues of working with reclaimed materials.

we all reuse is edited and maintained by the designers themselves. Other users may post stories or forum topics, however these will be moderated and may be subedited by we all reuse.

If you are a designer, supplier, academic or interested person who would like to join we all reuse, please sign up.

There are some other great initiatives out there encouraging reuse - and they're on our resources page. If we've missed one, let us know.

we all reuse is hosted and developed by re-present.com, and has been built using Drupal.
