How to play piano

£20 Make an enquiry

My lessons are based on 3 main aspects:

-learning how to play by ear: the student chooses a song or tune (I can also suggest songs), we then listen to it together and figure the notes out. This implies that I will teach elements of music theory throughout the lessons, and help the student understand how music functions and structures. The idea is also to develop listening abilities and the comprehension of harmony. The student can then practice the song at home.

-working on rhythm: rhythm is the most important part of music. In each lesson I try to bring in a new rhythm, the student then develops his ability to use both hands, to play with chords and bass-lines, and to combine rhythm and melody.

-for those who wish to get into the more creative side of things, I also like to have a 5-10 minute (or more!) "impro" moment, where the student and I can play together (both on the piano, or piano/guitar...). I can then give feedback, advice and suggest ideas. The point is also to enjoy a more mind-relaxing moment.
