What is THE APPROACH Self Protection Method?

The Approach is an easy and quick to learn method of self-defence, which has been taught to various Close Protection Teams that are responsible for various visiting dignitaries and other high profile events around the country. It has been chosen by these teams as the preferred method of protection, due to its simple, yet effective nature.

It is not a martial art that takes years to perfect or become good at, it's a simple effective way to defend yourself and your loved ones.
The Approach method uses the forearms and fists, to strike the attacker and then allows the use of elbows and knee strikes to further the attack.

No blocks are used; every movement is in itself an attack.
It is easy and quick to learn.
It helps build confidence.

Who can benefit from learning self-defence / self-protection?

This is for everyone whether it is personal use or your job / work puts you in situations where you have felt in danger, we can help.
There are many things in life that are helpful to learn and self-defence is one of them.

Don't think by learning self-defence there's no need to think about your safety anymore as you can now deal with any attacker!
What you will learn is a better understanding of self-protection and how this can fit seamlessly into your everyday life to give you more confidence and a better way to avoid threats and danger.

Fighting should be the last resort, as there's lots you can do before it gets to that point.

You don't need months and months of lessons to learn the approach; most people pick it up and are happy with the results, after only one or two sessions.

It is for men and women, and you don't have to have studied martial arts before to learn The Approach.
I would like you to enjoy learning as much as I do. There is no need to worry about coming along on your own, or with friends.
All are welcome, and you will never be forced to do anything you don't want to.

It is fun to learn, I want you to enjoy learning this valuable skill.

Classes are limited to a maximum of 10 people, so we can train as a group, and no one is left out.
Although what we are learning is no joke, it is good to learn in a fun environment.

What will I learn?
We will cover the main aspects of self-defence not only the physical side, but the mental and emotional side of any physical contact.
It's no good learning how to defend yourself physically, if your mind is not trained as well.
Overall you will leave the lesson with confidence and knowledge.
